In the 18th century, the Auerbach spring was said to have a healing effect. Initially, the "healing water" was bottled in barrels and enjoyed increasing popularity as an "export commodity". On this basis, the princely camp and the Goethe fountain were built. Already in 1930, however, dried up the source and the place lost its function.
