Heiligenberg Monastery Ruins

Only a few meters from the castle Heiligenberg you can find the remains of a high medieval monastery. The monastery was founded in the middle of the 13th century and was inhabited by nuns. At the end of the 16th century, the lands became the property of an agricultural domain and the buildings were abandoned. As part of the 30-year war, the monastery was severely damaged. Only at the beginning of the 18th century, the remaining remains of the building were expanded into a romantic ruin. Since then, the ruin is well maintained and forms a picturesque motif in the dense forest.
