The workers are returning to the Völklinger Hütte! In 2018, the Nuremberg conceptual artist Ottmar Hörl permanently installed several plastic worker figures in orange, gold and gray in the Völklinger Hütte. The artist wanted to set an example for the people who used to work hard there. The workers, who were distributed around the site of the hut, are modeled on the Völklinger Hütte worker - with helmets and work clothes: "Second Life" is the name of the installation.
A maxi-sculpture of the worker (with base 6.20 m high) was erected on the Völklinger Platz in front of the World Heritage Site. Hörl said he wanted to trigger "an impulse" so that people would take a new look at a person.
