Definitely an experience. Behind it is a cute little park and next to it is a home. So you can drive in and past the tower.

Beautiful tower with homestead next to it and small adjacent park.

At the castle tower there is also the Heimathaus and the Schenkwald bridge with the love locks.

The castle tower is laid out on three levels, with the fireplace room at the top, a prison in the middle and the dungeon below.

The still preserved tower of Davensberg Castle now houses a museum. The operator is the Davensberg Local Association.

The meadow landscape on the Emmerbach opposite the castle tower has been newly laid out and has been successful.

                DAVENSBERG CASTLE TOWER

With its idyllic and natural location in the north of Ascheberg, Davensberg Castle Tower is a popular venue for private and public events. And the interior of the ancient complex is also worth seeing: here the local history association's museum provides exciting insights into traditional agricultural culture. Equipped with a wedding room, the property forms an all-round romantic backdrop for weddings and celebrations. But you can also learn about gruesome stories that took place within the tower walls in the Middle Ages on exciting guided tours. These are offered on request.

                  THE CASTLE THROUGH HISTORY

The defensive tower and the St. Anna Chapel from 1500 are the only remaining remnants of the Davensberg castle complex, which was built in 1250 as the ancestral home of the Meinhövel family. Numerous changes of ownership shaped the property up until the 16th century with structural extensions. After that, the walls of the fortress gradually fell into disrepair until the complex came to an end in the Thirty Years' War.

                  The tower

The castle tower was given a gruesome task: numerous witch-hunting trials took place on the three floors of the complex. In the upper fireplace room, a court negotiated the fate of the condemned. The darker witnesses of the time were on the ground floor and in the basement: the prison with torture chamber and the dark dungeon.

Small bridge behind the parking lot at the Davensberg tower. Very idyllic with love locks. A bank invites you to take a break. Nice narrow way. goes back to the main road.

Here you will find the walnut factory. Carmen Irmen has been running it for several years and uses a specially designed, hand-operated press to turn walnuts into valuable oil. You will also find walnut flour, walnut puree and the delicious St. John's liqueur made from green walnuts. Just stop by on mill day and be surprised.

The round tower was part of the Davensberg knight's castle, probably built around 1250, and was probably built around 1500/1530 during an expansion of the complex.
