The old Pulsnitz Castle is also known simply as the Eustachius House after its builder. The Renaissance-style castle was built around 1600 by Eustachius von Schlieben. The cellar vaults, which were built in the Romanesque style, date from around 1200. At that time, there was supposedly a moated castle and a small Sorbian settlement right here. However, it is difficult to say when the castle and settlement were built. The first castles in this region were built in the 8th or 9th century, for example. The old Pulsnitz Castle was the center of the town and the residence of the local barons for just 100 years. Then the so-called "New Castle" was built.

The builder of the successor to the old Pulsnitz Castle was Johann Georg von Maxen, who commissioned the new castle in 1708. It took a full ten years until the baroque castle was completed and the family could move in. Unlike most castles, the original castle was not demolished but was preserved. Today, the premises house a clinic for neurological and neurosurgical rehabilitation. The old Pulsnitz Castle is still surrounded by a park with impressive trees. The park can be visited.

The Old Castle, also known as Eustachius House, was built around 1600 as a moated castle and dates back to an earlier manor house from 1225 under Heinricus and Bernardus de Polseniz.
The von Posern family lived in the castle until 1945 and was expropriated as a result of the land reform. After 1948, the lung sanatorium was moved from Schwepnitz to Pulsnitz, thus establishing the history of the clinic.
