The Patrona Bavariae Chapel in Ficht was built in 1963 as the fulfillment of a vow. During the Second World War, the farmer's wife of the Jacklbauernhof farm promised to build a chapel if her sons returned home safe and sound. Her wish was granted – and out of gratitude, this small house of worship was built in honor of the Virgin Mary.

But those who linger here may also think of those whose hopes were not fulfilled. Happiness and misfortune are often closely intertwined – in war as in peace.
