The town of Kaltenbronn is located in the largest contiguous forest area in Baden-Württemberg on the Kegelbach, just below the summit of the Hohloh massif (988 m), over which the northeastern Black Forest main ridge runs.
It is the only one of the Baden-Eberstein areas around Gernsbach that is not in the Murg valley, but to the east of it in the catchment area of the Enz. From the town of Kaltenbronn down the valley there are only old Württemberg towns.
