The construction of the monument was supported in 2012 by the then President of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski. The unveiling of the monument took place on November 11, 2018, during the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining independence.

The monument, designed by Jacek Kucaba, depicts the politician standing at a lectern. It was located near other monuments to the "Fathers of Polish Independence", including those of Roman Dmowski, Józef Piłsudski, Wincenty Witos and Ignacy Jan Paderewski.
