"The Stöckener Bach flows leisurely for a length of 2.7 km through the Stöckener forests before falling into the Leine via a short cascade.
At the height of the "Laukerthof", the stream bed has dug deep into the terrace edge of the Leine valley and formed a 4 m high V-shaped valley.
When the water is high, the water from the Leine pushes the Stöckener Bach: the water then flows "upstream" and overflows the banks."
The sign is one of the so-called watermarks of the Hanover region:
