Ignacy Jan Paderewski (born 25 October?/6 November 1860 [or 1859] in Kuryłówka, died 29 June 1941 in New York) – Polish pianist, composer, independence activist, statesman, and politician. Under his direct influence, President Woodrow Wilson included in his ultimatum, which made the United States' signing of the Treaty of Versailles conditional, a thirteenth point demanding the agreement of the treaty parties to Poland's sovereignty – thanks to which the establishment of an independent Polish state was recorded in the treaty.
