This square was named after Karl Zipproth, mayor and honorary citizen of the municipality of Dörflas, which was an independent community until 1939. In house number 5, he was the last textile manufacturer to run a publishing business. At the end of the 1980s, the square was redesigned after two houses were demolished. The east row was built after the fire of 1843. The houses on the west side were rebuilt in the first third of the 20th century. In the southeast is the former Dörflas castle and later guesthouse, and in the northeast is the tanner's house.
