Pillnitz Castle & Park and the car ferry

The car ferry, which connects the left bank of the Elbe, where Pillnitz Castle & Park is located, with the right bank, is a convenient connection not only for drivers but also for pedestrians. During peak times, there are even extra ferries available for you to ensure that no one has to wait too long. To make sure the ferry is running when you arrive, it's best to check the current times on the official DVB Elbe Ferries website. The cost of using the ferry is very reasonable, especially for pedestrians, who pay around 1.50 euros for a round trip. Please note, however, that prices can vary, so it's always a good idea to check beforehand. An important note in case of flooding: the ferry cannot run when the water levels are high, so check the current water levels and ferry connections before your trip to avoid any surprises. dvb.de/de-de/entdecken/elbfaehren

After you take the ferry and arrive on the left bank of the Elbe, the stunning Pillnitz Castle & Park awaits you. The park is open to visitors daily from 9:00 a.m. to sunset, and the best part: you can visit it for free in the winter months, including the area directly on the Elbe side, which offers a breathtaking view of the Elbe! The castle itself has seasonal opening hours, so please check when it is open before your visit. The entrance fee varies depending on the season and exhibition, but you can expect to pay around 8-12 euros per person. schlosspillnitz.de/de/gaesteservice

Hiking tip: If you want to experience more of the beautiful Elbe landscape after your visit to Pillnitz Castle & Park, I recommend you discover my "16km round trip ferry Laubegast, Pillnitz, Birkwitz and back". This tour, which can be found in my profile, takes you through picturesque landscapes, along the Elbe and to other places worth seeing in the area. A perfect combination of culture, nature and exercise that will give you unforgettable memories!
