Memorial stone for Radegundis of Thuringia, erected on the occasion of the 1400th anniversary of her death in 1987 at the Mühlburg. Mühlberg is one of around forty Radegundi locations in German-speaking countries where the work of Saint Radegunde is commemorated. She is much better known in France. Radegunde was born around 518 as the daughter of the then Thuringian King Berthachar. Her father was the victim of an assassination attempt and her mother also died very early. Radegunde and her younger brother grew up at the court of their uncle Hermenefred, who made himself the sole ruler of the Thuringian Empire.
