                The enormous Diersfordter Waldsee was created through dredging. Raw materials, especially gravel, will be extracted from it until 2030. The area of the lake is currently 200 hectares, but by the end of the excavations it will increase to around 300 hectares.

                Thanks to the biotopes created by recultivation work, the Diersfordter Waldsee offers replacement habitats for numerous rare animal and especially bird species such as common terns and black-headed gulls. Master Bockert, the beaver, is at home in the northern forest lake.
