The statue of De Gaulle and Churchill can be found at the main entrance of the Parc Richelieu. This impressive statue depicts the two famous statesmen after World War II, facing a France that was beginning to rebuild. The statue was inaugurated in June 2017 and symbolizes the cooperation between the two countries during difficult periods in the 20th century. The inauguration took place on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 3:00 PM in the Parc Richelieu in Calais, in the presence of Sir Nicholas SOAMES, Conservative MP, former Minister of the British Armed Forces and grandson of Winston Churchill. The two characters are dressed in their military clothing as they wore it during the war.
