    Gänseliesl

The installation of Gänseliesl with her poultry, created by the sculptor Sabine Mädl, who was born in Nuremberg in 1964 and lives in Kotzheim, is one of the central eye-catchers on the village square in Ursensollen. The group of four was set up in August 2010 on the upper pond and symbolizes the rural origins of the village of Ursensollen. The body of water corresponds roughly to the location of the original village pond.
For Liesl and the three geese, the artist carefully welded together countless triangles made of bronze sheet in her workshop using a small model on a scale of 1:8 - a total of around 100 kilograms. Around 40 kilos of welding rods were required for this work. In addition to the manual skill, the creative process, as the artist revealed in a workshop discussion, was always a search for form, tension and lively flow in the gestures of humans and animals.
"The Gänseliesl is also intended to be a monument to those simple people who have shaped Ursensollen as a rural village over the centuries," said former mayor Franz Mädler.
The 1.53 meter tall figure exerts a magical attraction in all seasons: not only for children, but also for older people who in their youth may have had to look after the geese and lead them to the village hüll.
