Best Hikes to Osterloch Cave

Tips

  • Nice small and accessible cave in the elongated rock ridge, on which a well-developed hiking trail runs. In any case, it is classified as an “important” cave for its geoscientific value in the geotope register of the Bavarian State Office for the Environment. Prehistoric finds have been made in the cave. The Geological State Office gives the following speleological data: length 25 meters, width 4 meters, height 3 meters, area 100 square meters. Another source states that it is 52 meters long and up to 15 meters wide. Don't forget your flashlight and pay attention to bat times. Here is the link to it: umweltatlas.bayern.de/mapapps/resources/reports/geotope/generateBericht.pdf?additionallayerfieldvalue=371H005.

  • Beautiful cave with very narrow entrance. Inside the cave opens and you can stand comfortably. As with any cave, you should have a head or flashlight with you.
