The gardener's house, built around 1700, stands on parts of the monastery church ruins.
Under Grand Duke Carl August of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach
(1757 - 1828), the gardener's house was rebuilt in a classicist style in 1822 - 1823. The house, which was newly designed as a "salon, three rooms, a chamber and kitchen", was connected to the garden and greenhouse via a side entrance and a terrace in front. The glass houses, which had been rebuilt several times, were removed in the 1990s and a pergola was built to provide shade for visitors. (...from information board)

Hiking
The gardener's house, built around 1700, stands on parts of the ruins of the monastery church. The Carthusian monastery cemetery was once located next to the church. During excavation work at the edge of the building in 1995, some of these medieval graves were discovered.
