The Schrumpfbachtal has always been characterized by its mills. These mills have been documented for centuries and were all leased in the Middle Ages. The fees for the lease were usually paid in kind. The Schrumpfbachtal with its 15 mills connects the Moselle town of Hatzenport with the Maifeld Eifel towns of Mörz and Metternich. A short but wonderful route and highly recommended.
