The source of Brodenbach lies in the north of the Boppard district Buchholz at about 372 m above sea level. NN. From there it flows, without crossing any other villages, mainly in a westerly direction through a narrow valley. The narrowest section is known as the "Thunder Hole," a cascade group that has only survived in parts since a blast in the 1960s for a forestry trail.
