The town of Tennenbronn has a curious history. It was divided until 1922, most recently into the political communities of "Catholic Tennenbronn" and "Evangelical Tennenbronn". Before 1806, the border between Württemberg and Upper Austria ran right through the town. This history is explained here directly at the former border.

... in "Tennenbronn", a district of Schramberg in the Rottweil district in Baden-Württemberg.
      - located at the "yellow diamond" marking
      - at the village pond

      - the "divided" community until 1922: Tennenbronn was divided into a Protestant and a Catholic town (Tennenbronn Treaty of 1558)
The most important rights were regulated in the Tennenbronn Treaty of 1558 between the Duchy of Württemberg and the Schramberg lordship ("belonged" to Upper Austria). Conflicts arose again and again, which were dealt with, among other things, in the Rottenburg Agreement of 1750 between Austria and Württemberg. The larger part of Tennenbronn was owned by Württemberg. The Upper Austrian lordship of Schramberg was awarded to Württemberg in the Peace of Pressburg in 1805, so that the previously Upper Austrian part of Tennenbronn also became part of Württemberg.
Two independent congregations were formed on a denominational basis, Evangelical Tennenbronn and Catholic Tennenbronn, which only merged into one congregation in 1922.

Sometimes on the border with Austria, sometimes on the border between Catholic and Protestant...that's interesting...that's why there are still two great music groups in the small town of Tennenbronn today: Frohsinn and Harmonie.
