The small St. Salvator chapel of the parish of Litzendorf was built in 2008 by the pilgrims of the Litzendorf Salvator pilgrimage. The pilgrimage to the miraculous image of St. Salvator (lat. Salvator Mundi: Savior, Savior, Redeemer) to Hollfeld to the Sanctuary of St. Salvator has a long tradition. It most likely exists since 1747 due to a vow. At first it was assumed that the vow was due to the plague, but recent studies show that it is more likely that it was caused by a so-called "cattle case", probably foot-and-mouth disease. The pilgrimage to Hollfeld takes place every year on Thursday before Pentecost. The image of the cross of Christ carrying the cross inside the chapel is a replica of the old original image from 1480, which can be seen in Hollfeld in the pilgrimage church on the mercy altar behind a wrought-iron grating.
