At the Gentsepoort is the Reynaert monument. It is a bronze cast statue of Reynaert the fox with a hard stone background showing the court of King Nobel. The statue was made by the Antwerp Dutchman Anton Damen and represents a court scene from the animal story. Reynaert the Fox stands in pilgrim's clothing in front of the court of King Nobel the lion. You can also recognize Belijn the ram, Cantecleer the rooster, Cuwaert the hare, Tibeert the tomcat, Bruun the bear and Isegrim the wolf. On the right is Tiecelijn the raven on the gallows and on the left in the background you can see the towers of Hulst. (You can clearly see what the tower of the St. Willibrordus Basilica looked like before the Second World War.)
