"The Protestant Christ Church is a listed church building in Emmerich am Rhein, a town in the district of Kleve (North Rhine-Westphalia). The parish belongs to the Wesel church district of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland.

The unadorned, cruciform brick building was built between 1690 and 1715 under the direction of the Amsterdam architect Arnold van der Leen as a free-standing building on the central Geistmarkt. In addition to the congregation of only about 500 souls, collection trips to the Netherlands and a lottery approved by the Prussian king contributed to the financing. On Palm Sunday, April 14, 1715, the church was opened. The church, which has a square floor plan under steep hipped roofs, is crowned by an octagonal lantern. There are low extensions in the corners of the cross arms. This is a preaching church with a Dutch character; the direct model was the older Oosterkerk in Amsterdam, according to whose plans it was built.

In a fire on July 19, 1907 the church burned down to its foundations. It was rebuilt by 1909. After destruction in the Second World War on October 7, 1944, the outer building was restored to its original form by 1958. It was only since then that the church has been called Christ Church. The interior was changed by dividing it into two floors. The worship room is on the first floor and the community hall is on the ground floor."
