In 1851, the railway line through the Elbe valley from Dresden to Podmokly/Bodenbach was opened. In 1905, a stop was subsequently set up here on the left bank of the Elbe, so that Schmilka was connected to the railway by ferry. From the platform on the Elbe side and directly from the ferry, there is a beautiful view over the Elbe to the town of Schmilka, which stretches up the slope along the narrow Ilmenbach valley.

rvsoe.de/verkehrsmittel/faehre/faehren The ferry runs here in summer from 06:20 - 22:30 and in winter until 20:30. The Deutschlandticket is valid here, as well as on other ferries in Saxon Switzerland except Rathen.

I'm just wondering what the "highlight" is here: It's a ferry that runs on a flat surface and takes people from one bank to the other. Like many other Elbe ferries, it's a public transport system, so nothing special.
