The church, built between 1614 and 1619, was struck by lightning in 1791 during a severe thunderstorm and had to be rebuilt. However, the reconstruction did not take place until 1860. The church was also destroyed in the Second World War. In that case, it was mainly the windows that were damaged, although these were replaced immediately afterwards.
