The north-western part of the nature reserve is characterized by an approximately 15-hectare opencast mining lake and a mosaic of pioneer forest, calcareous grassland, orchid meadows and grass and herbaceous meadows.
Rush, bulrush and reed beds can be found on the shore of the open-cast mining lake.
