In 1846/47, a bridge was built in connection with this culvert for a road parallel to the railway. Although the culvert carries little water in summer, a large amount of meltwater flows here in spring. It collects east of the path, falls over a step into the inlet, and then flows under the path with another drop. The water then enters the culvert's inlet shaft. It flows under the tracks over another step to the outlet on the west side.
