The “Hommage au Rammelsberg”, a work of art by the sculptor Christoph Wilmsen-Wiegmann, deals with the work in the mountain. The ten ore chunks each stand for a century of the closest connection between mining and the city of Goslar and form a bridge between the past and the present. A handprint is worked into each of the chunks that are scattered around the city as a metaphor for the work of the miners.

The unprocessed side stands for the bond with nature and the mountain - the smoothed side with the handprint shows that the miners have created an industrial and cultural landscape with their work over centuries. The work of art was created on the occasion of the Expo 2000 in Hanover.

This 1 ton chunk of ore is located in the cathedral vestibule.
A nice idea with the treated and untreated side and the handprints on the 10 ore tunnels in Goslar.
Aside from the art itself, it's actually interesting to see so much ore in one go. This way you can get a good idea of the work of the miners, who at that time only had the simplest tools at their disposal to mine ore.
