Ironstone quarry "Devil's Pit" has the shape of a funnel with an exit sloping along the north slope. The existence of the quarry is mentioned in 1441 as the 'pit' from which the lord had stone pulled. It is the oldest known mention of a Wezemaal quarry. Immovable Heritage Inventory 2024: Iron Sand Quarry 'Devil's Pit', id.erfgoed.net/erfgoedobjecten/305210You can recognize the quarry from the walking path by looking for the clear depression in the forest, there is also a fairly large bench next to it. It is a bit more difficult to find than the further quarry with large iron sandstone formations and the quarry on the western side of the Wine Wall (even in spring it is full of leaves and there is no sign here).
