Duivelsput Iron Sandstone Quarry

Ironstone quarry "Devil's Pit" has the shape of a funnel with an exit sloping along the north slope. The existence of the quarry is mentioned in 1441 as the 'pit' from which the lord had stone pulled. It is the oldest known mention of a Wezemaal quarry. It is a bit more difficult to find than the further quarry with large iron sandstone formations and the quarry on the western side of the Wine Wall (even in spring it is full of leaves and there is no sign here).
