The St. Peter's Church from 1906 in the Kiel-Wik district is a Protestant church building located opposite the attractive viewing settlement. Today there is an attractive café downstairs in the side annex.

The Petruskirche offers space for approx. 1100 people and is probably also the largest church in Kiel. Since 1984 the "Förderverein für die Petruskirche" has been taking care of its preservation. In 1985 the church district of Kiel bought the Petruskirche in order to use it as a concert and event church ever since. Very popular as a concert venue for the SHMF...

The Petrus Church was built in 1905-1907 as a garrison church for the Imperial Navy in Kiel, when large barracks were built in the Wik and the garrison church on Niemannsweg was no longer sufficient for the increasing number of naval members.
The Petrus Church, designed by the then renowned Karlsruhe architects Robert Curjel and Karl Moser, is one of the largest and most important Art Nouveau churches in Germany. For urban planning reasons, it is oriented from south to north.

The multi-part assembly is dominated by the south façade of the church, which is connected to the pastorate via the confirmation hall in the west and to the administration building via the arcade in the east. Because of the excellent acoustics due to the open roof structure and the wooden beam construction, the church is not only used for church services, but also for concerts and other cultural events.
