From the lookout and the higher rocky plateau you can enjoy a wonderful view of Hardegg, Austria's smallest town, the Thaya Valley and the Thaya Valley/Podyji National Park with its interesting vegetation. Benches invite you to sit and linger. A hiking trail leads to the wooden lookout, which is freely accessible to pedestrians and cyclists.

The viewing pavilion was opened in 1885. It was also called the Luitgardenwarte in honor of the Vranov Countess Luitgarde von Stadnicky. Due to its location in a restricted area, the building eventually fell into disrepair until the border was opened. In 1990, a new pavilion was built by the Austrian Tourist Club based on the model of the old one.
