Hiking
It represents the market, coinage, and customs rights granted to the city by Otto III as early as 989. In 1367, Halberstadt became a member of the Hanseatic League, thus representing freedom of trade for the bourgeoisie ever since.
After the Roland in Bremen, it is the second oldest Roland statue in all of Germany.
Both statues were created by stonemasons from Parlau in Bohemia and bear similarities.
