In 1892 the evangelical community tried to build their own chapel. The city of Staufen made a building site available for this purpose. Despite Catholic criticism from Freiburg, the mayor and citizens' committee gave the community a 740 square meter plot of land on Neumagen in 1897. The building, which had grown in the planning from the chapel to a small church to the church, was erected there in a short time and inaugurated on September 12, 1899.
