    "... Above the city of Staufen on the so-called“ Waldbruderköpfle ”of the“ Dürren Bucks ”stands the St. Johannes chapel with the brother house. A Way of the Cross with a total of fourteen stations leads up to the chapel.

    The history of the Sankt Johanneskapelle known to us begins with the destruction of the hermitage of the hermit Johannes Willi near the Sankt Gotthardkapelle in 1678. The city of Staufen then provided Willi with a place in the forest above the city on the "Dürren Buck" in 1684, to build a new hermitage.
