The Munich artist Stephan Huber created the monument in 1989 on behalf of the city of Wuppertal, based on the poem "Weltflucht", which ends with the artificial word "Meinwärts" and inspired the sculptor to create this work: The portrait of the poet, based on a photo from 1919/20, is reproduced in reverse on two black granite steles, composed of 28,000 mosaic stones in 19 delicate, barely perceptible colors.
