Poelkapelle is a village in the Belgian province of West Flanders. Around the peaceful village you will find some simple war monuments that remind you of the sacrifices made during the First World War, in which Poelkapelle was completely destroyed.

As part of the reconstruction, a market square was also constructed: Guynemerplein, named after the famous French fighter pilot George Guynemer, who crashed and died there during an air battle. The Guynemer memorial for this can be found in the center next to the Church of Our Lady.
