The castle garden developed from the former outer bailey. Originally, a wide and deep moat separated the castle and outer bailey. A two-aisled underground passage was built into this ditch - probably in the 16th century - and the ditch above was filled.

Today, the palace garden has more the character of an English garden, in which a monument with its bronze angel (1894) was erected for the Dillinger citizens who fell in the wars of the 19th century (previous location: Taxispark).
