The mighty structure of the study church, built between 1610 and 1617, is considered to be the most valuable building in Dillingen in terms of art history. The former Jesuit and university church is directly connected to the former Jesuit college. The interior of the church was redecorated in Rococo style in 1756-68. The image program of the Jesuits was carried out by Christoph Thomas Scheffler. The church is considered the forerunner of a large number of southern German baroque churches. The main altar is one of the few surviving stage altars in Germany. It was created around 1760 by Johann Anwander (1715–1770). Every year in the week before Palm Sunday, behind the lowered altarpiece, a room with scenery and figures opens six meters high, which trace the stations of Christ's passion from the flagellation to the resurrection.
