In 1750 the construction of the mill should start. Since no one could agree on a location at first, construction did not take place until 1795. The mill, then called Bruchmühle, was in operation from 1796 to around 1918. It was built by Müller Huisgen, who also owned the Uerdingen town mill - now known as the Owl Tower. She changed hands several times. In 1849, the miller Hermanns from Xanten bought the mill.

Mountain biking

The mill was built in 1795 northwest of Uerdingen to meet the increasing demand for flour from the growing population of the city of Uerdingen. Because of its location on the Bruchfeld at the Uerdinger Bruch it was and is also called the Bruchmühle. Initially it was also called Neue Mühle to distinguish it from the much older Uerdinger Stadtmühle (today's Eulenturm).

In 1831 both Uerdingen windmills were sold to the Krefeld miller Terhegen. The mills later came into the possession of the Hermanns-Hardering miller family from the Lower Rhine and were from then on also called Hermannsmühle.
