Here you drive over a historical bridge that is operated by people. It takes a while for it to spin and adjust everything manually, but it's very interesting to have seen.

Construction work on the port began on May 10, 1903. At the same time, work on building the port railway was started. Since the harbor was to be created without flooding, about 1 million cubic meters had to be built. Filling material can be brought up. Since there was no Rhine bridge yet, everything had to be procured inland in a detour. A Mannheim company (Brün - Billfinger) was commissioned with the earthworks. The swing bridge was built by a Duisburg company.

According to Wikipedia, the bridge can also be lifted and rotated without machine assistance, with human power (4 people).

The swing bridge in the Linner Rheinhafen is a beautiful and in addition to the much larger Uerdinger Rhine bridge inconspicuous industrial crime.

This stone bench next to the bridge also has so much nostalgia :-)

The bridge was renovated from historical preservatives. The northern wheel lane is now closed.

Interesting building. Single lane for traffic, cyclists have their own lane for each direction 😀

ATTENTION: There are railway tracks just before the bridge. Several falls have already occurred here. Please avoid this area (drive left on the bike path, even if this is only allowed in one direction). High risk of falling. !!!!!!!!!!!

There are only two bridges of this type left in Europe!

Still, or again, the bridge is currently a construction site. Barriers in the street, metal plates on the floor and a lot more distract from the actual highlight. Still passable by bike or on foot.

Due to a construction site currently closed but passable for bicycles / pedestrians. Large potholes on the southern carriageway.
