Our two bikes haven't been on the road together for a while. Today their patience with us came to an end: both wanted to do at least a small round. For better or for worse, we had to go with them. Before breakfast, of course. Rarely seen such happy bikes.

It should go with the Rhine ferry Altrip - south of Mannheim - to the other side of the Rhine and then towards Speyer. Unfortunately, the low water level on the Rhine put the ferry in checkmate - and "diverted" me in the direction of Schwetzingen and Ladenburg. With almost 40 degrees, I didn't quite…

At the invitation of the city of Mannheim, artists from all over the world have been transforming gray facades into wonderful public works of art for the past 9 years. The project is called "Stadt.Wand.Kunst". After my trip to Mannheim, only the late evening hours remained for a first approach. However…

The Dr. Hans Riegel Foundation is dedicated to promoting the fine arts and historical culture. "Walls of Vision" is part of it: young artists transfer the pictures of old masters to wall surfaces in German city centers in large format. Two of them are already "hanging" in Duisburg: "Die Weizenernte…

Out on the house round to "shake out your legs". I have never seen such a low Rhine water level. In order to see the differences to the previous year even better, I have attached a photo from July 2021.

The Angerbachtal lures me again and again, always in the early hours of the morning, because it is very fresh and deserted there. Just wonderful!! The Angerbach, well filled with "naturally cloudy" water from the lime works, ripples along and lets you forget the otherwise prevailing water shortage for…

WIKIPEDIA entertained me for a whole evening with the historical background of the moated castles, etc., which can be easily reached by bike "from home". Highly recommended reading!! Then early Saturday morning I go to visit them - not for the first time, but for the first time on a single tour. I always…

Yesterday's heat-related (and self-imposed) house arrest has awakened long-laid music-making inclinations in me and encouraged me to write a trio piece for the woods xylophone, the (bicycle) bell and my perpetually wobbling left rhythm foot.
Admittedly, I was a little nervous when I made my way to the…

Got up at 5 a.m., drove in the fresh morning air to the Heinrich-Hildebrand-Höhe (= location of "Tiger&Turtle), watched the sunrise at 5.38 a.m. and then a very relaxed tour along the Rhine towards Kaiserswerth and from there through the Überanger Mark home. Wonderful breakfast with sourdough rolls from…

The workshop in Essen messed up when installing a small electronic component on Saturday: the part was not getting any power. So today on the direct route there again and then back home on a few beautiful sunlit detours. Even the small part was happy about sufficient energy.
