The karst spring of the Salza is located here. It is Thuringia's strongest spring. Where exactly the water that has flowed underground to this point and emerges from the earth at this point comes from is still not clear. It is assumed that it comes from many small shrinkage systems in the area, including from the sinkholes of the Wieda and Zorge rivers. A fascinating place!

The spring water has collected in the fault zones of the karst to the north. In the spring area it is 8-10 degrees Celsius all year round and therefore does not freeze over. Pretty fresh.
