The Salza is one of the smaller rivers in the southern Harz foothills, but has a special source. This is called Salza-Spring and is the largest karst spring in Thuringia and the second largest after the Rhume spring in the southern Harz gypsum karst area. It is located northwest of Nordhausen at the foot of the Kohnstein near the Mittelbau-Dora memorial.

The Salza spring should be looked at again and again when you come from the karst hiking trail, here there is always something new to discover in the plant and nature world.

This spring is simply a wonderful natural spectacle, especially now in early summer when the meadows around it are in full bloom.

Great nature experience, 3rd largest spring in Germany, karst spring with very good explanations on many display boards. Very interesting because many small springs form bubbles and the plants in the water make it look very beautiful. Recently there is a stamp box of the Harzer hiking needle for the karst hiking trail.
