The West depot is the largest operating facility of the Karlsruhe transport company and has existed there since 1978. The central workshop for both VBK and AVG rail and motor vehicles is located here.
The depot is connected to the rest of the rail network via an approximately 1.1 km long service line from the Rheinhafen stop. The original plan was to connect the Rheinstadt district near the Rhine bridge to the tram network via this operating route.
