A really beautiful spot on the Rhine. There used to be a huge poplar tree (=Belle) here at the old mouth of the Alb. Hence the name of the spot here. There are a few benches, a stone with historical water levels, and if the water is not too high, you can see all the way to the Rhine.

Belle (Old Alb estuary): about 450 years ago the Alb flowed 5 km upstream into the Rhine at Knielingen. Over the centuries the Rhine and its tributaries changed their course again and again. The Belle is an attractive destination with the former mouth of the Alb. Incidentally, the name Belle is a dialect name for poplar.
