The old domain cemetery dates back to the time when Cornberg only consisted of the former monastery with residential and farm buildings, a restaurant and post office. The monastery became a state domain after 1834 and was run by tenants. The bailiffs and tenants employed here were buried together with their families outside the monastery in this cemetery. The last grave dates from 1947. Historic stopover on the Glück-Auf cycle path with a new information board.

The old cemetery in Cornberg, directly opposite the Cornberg monastery, is a cultural monument with a bloodthirsty history.
Two murdered people are said to be buried under the sandstone graves and obelisks.
The gravestone of the tanner Johann Gottfried Geng from 1806, who was probably murdered by border robbers on the way to Bebra, is still in the old cemetery today.
Then there is the story of the murder of Baron von Batzendorf above the cemetery. He, a nobleman, womanizer and con man, is said to have been murdered in 1704 by a bullet fired by Landgrave Wilhelm of Rotenburg and was initially buried in the Cornberg monastery and later buried in the old cemetery in Cornberg.
