This natural spring is located in a small ornamental/wild flower garden below the Kalkofen leisure area near Berneburg, directly on the cycle path. Chilled refreshments (drinks) can be taken directly from the source for a small donation.
Nice, cozy rest area with seating.
About 50m from this spring, on the driveway to the leisure area, there is a historic lime kiln for the production of quicklime from limestone, which is somewhat hidden in the undergrowth.
What remains of the lime kiln is a two-storey structure made of brick masonry.

It is unimaginable that it doesn't work. There is someone here who puts a lot of love and effort into keeping the space ready and getting the drinks.

Located directly on the R5 or Glück-Auf-Radweg, you can refresh yourself with chilled drinks “At the Source” for a donation. Great idea. And if you like, you can also discover the remains of a historic lime works at the foot of the slope. Founded in 1890 by four partners as the “Berneburg Limeworks”, it was operated until 1939 after the change of ownership in 1912 (Chronik Berneburg, 1991, pp. 90 and 91). All that remains of the buildings is the two-story lime kiln made of red bricks; all other buildings in front of it have completely disappeared. The lime kiln is also the namesake and adorns the club emblem of FC Kalkofen Berneburg 1992 e. v.

Thanks to the private operator of this lovingly designed, cozy rest stop. Here, you can trust us to help yourself to chilled drinks from a crate placed in a small stream. A generous donation was naturally required. The cash register is located in a small wooden table. There was even a bottle opener. Great! 👌❤️
