Views across Lumsdale to the east and back over Matlock to the west.
The Lumsdale valley old mill buildings and permissive paths along Bentley Brook are currently closed due to the dangerous state of the buildings. The Arkwright Society which own the valley are raising money to restore the buildings and then they will be able to re-open the area.

The waterfalls are still visible. There is no access to the ruins but they can be observed. I suggest that any visits are made by parking away from the Valley and walking through as I did.

I quote from Derbyshire site: The Lumsdale Valley Waterfalls are now COMPLETELY CLOSED to the general public. There is no access to the waterfalls or mill ruins. This is private land and the owners (the charity the Arkwright Society) have had to take this regretful step because of public safety during the Covid pandemnic. PLEASE DO NOT VISIT THE LUMSDALE VALLEY AT ALL DURING THE COVID CRISIS. SAFE SOCIAL DISTANCING IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND ELDERLY LOCAL RESIDENTS ARE BEING PUT AT RISK. Please note! NO picnicking, paddling, swimming or climbing allowed in the Valley - for conservation, environmental and safety reasons. The Valley is a very precious Historic England Monument and special ancient woodland and wetland environmental area. There are NO toilets, cafe, or play areas for children. Please respect other people's peace and quiet when visiting the Valley.
