Since the 13th century, stones were broken in various places around Stein-Bockenheim. The high-quality product was very popular and therefore the stones were even transported to Mainz and Bingen. Only in the 19th century, the quarries lost their importance and nature has recaptured the area piece by piece. Today, only the traces of the tools in the rock walls testify to this past.
